Methods and Statistics I · Lecture 6
1.1What is an emotion?
Emotions are experiences that occur when we regard our situation as relevant to our active personal goals. It is a mental state caused by stimuli, characterised by three kinds of change:
- Our behaviour, how we act.
- Our subjective experience, how we feel.
- Our physiology, how the systems of the body function.
The most prominent behaviours are facial expressions. Their perception is comparable across cultures; their expression is not, because of display rules.
1.2Emotion versus mood, and arousal
- Emotion
- Short-lived, with a clear target.
- Mood
- Long-lasting, with no target.
- Arousal
- The state of being activated, such as a raised heart rate or sweating.
Summaries with the highlighting already done
Every course as A4 pages, built from the checklist and the past exams.
Questions that explain themselves
Every answer comes with the why, and the lecture it came from.
Know if you are ready before the exam does
A readiness score per topic, built from every answer you gave.

The real thing, before the real thing
Same length, same clock, graded on the faculty's cesuur.
Updated when the course changes
A professor swaps two lectures; the summary follows the same week.
Sounds too good? Don't take our word for it.
Students from our founding years, unscripted and in their own words.
You practice so much that when you read the exercise, you already know what to do. You are doing it automatically.
“I went from resitting two courses to passing everything in one round.”
“Exactly what I wanted to prepare for the exam.”
“The summaries are the only thing I opened in the last week. That was enough.”

Dima
In 2nd year of IBA, Dima found himself pursuing a full-time corporate job at Amazon, mentoring 2 cohorts and trying to keep up with uni life. pass the year is what kept him sane through all this. His main motivation is to give you your time back so you can focus on what really matters at uni.

Bence
Bence started sharing summaries in IBEB to help his friends, and in no time everyone was using them. But summaries were just the start: the real mission is reworking the education system, from the inside. Currently Bence is pursuing a Masters of Finance and Accounting at RSM.

What if the course changes this year?
How do I cancel?
What if it is not for me?
Do not stress. Just finesse.
